Researchers watch how ICU teams plan care when recovery is uncertain
NCT ID NCT06042621
Summary
This study is observing how a specific care plan, called a 'time-limited trial,' is used for very sick patients in the ICU who need a machine to help them breathe. The plan involves setting a period to try treatments, then checking if the patient is improving. Researchers are watching how these plans are made and their effect on how long patients stay in the ICU, and on the stress levels of their families and the medical staff.
