New gel shield may make prostate freezing safer
NCT ID NCT07567027
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 10, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This early study tests whether a gel called Barrigel can stay unfrozen and protect the rectum during prostate cancer cryoablation (freezing treatment). About 20 men with localized or recurrent prostate cancer will receive the gel before the procedure. The main goal is to see if the gel resists freezing, which could reduce side effects and improve safety.
