First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether applying an ice bag to the groin area after a heart procedure (called PCI) can reduce pain and bruising. Sixty adults who had the procedure through the femoral artery will receive ice therapy for 20 minutes at a time. Researchers will measure pain levels and check for hematomas (bruises) at the puncture site.

What this could lead to
If it works, this simple cold therapy could become a standard way to ease pain and reduce bruising after heart procedures.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The ice bag may not significantly improve outcomes.
