New drug cocktail targets Hard-to-Treat colorectal cancer mutation
NCT ID NCT06959589
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests two drug combinations for people with advanced colorectal cancer that has a specific genetic change called KRAS G12C. In one group, patients who haven't had treatment yet will receive the drugs IBI351 and cetuximab β plus chemotherapy (FOLFIRI). In another group, patients whose cancer got worse after first treatment will get just IBI351 and cetuximab β. The goal is to see if these combinations shrink tumors better than past treatments. About 50 adults aged 18-75 will take part.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- IBI351 and cetuximab β (with or without FOLFIRI chemotherapy)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could offer a new targeted treatment option for people with a specific genetic mutation (KRAS G12C) in advanced colorectal cancer, potentially improving tumor shrinkage rates.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase (Phase II) study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The combination may cause side effects, and the expected improvement in remission rates is not guaranteed.
