Summary

This early trial tests an investigational pill called IBI3042, which activates the GLP-1 receptor, a target used by many weight-loss drugs. Researchers want to see if single and repeated doses are safe and tolerable in healthy, overweight, and obese adults. The study also tracks how the drug moves through the body and whether it affects body weight and related measures. Participants receive either IBI3042 or a placebo, with dose levels increasing as safety data allow.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
IBI3042, an investigational oral drug that activates the GLP-1 receptor
What this could lead to
If safe and effective, IBI3042 could become a convenient pill for weight management, offering an alternative to injectable GLP-1 drugs.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial focused on safety, not proof of weight loss. The drug may fail in larger studies or cause side effects.
