First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether aerobic exercise in simulated altitude (normobaric hypoxia) can improve body composition and metabolism in people with MASLD, a type of fatty liver disease. Twenty sedentary adults with MASLD will walk on a treadmill for 8 weeks, either in mild altitude or normal air. Researchers will measure changes in body mass, fat percentage, and fitness.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

aerobic exercise in simulated altitude (normobaric hypoxia)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a new exercise approach to help manage MASLD and improve metabolic health.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early study with only 20 participants, so results may not apply widely. The intervention is mild and may not produce meaningful changes.
