New mouthwash may offer gentler recovery after wisdom tooth surgery
NCT ID NCT07466992
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a hypochlorous acid mouthwash could be a better alternative to the standard chlorhexidine mouthwash for reducing pain, swelling, and jaw stiffness after impacted wisdom tooth removal. 42 healthy adults with similar wisdom teeth on both sides of their mouth participated. Each person used one mouthwash on one side and the other mouthwash on the other side, allowing a direct comparison of recovery outcomes.
