Gum disease link to high uric acid under microscope
NCT ID NCT07666126
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether high uric acid levels (hyperuricemia) are linked to more severe gum disease and bone loss. Researchers will measure inflammation and oxidative stress markers in gum fluid and blood from 80 adults. Participants are grouped by gum health and uric acid status. The goal is to better understand the biological connection, not to test a treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could clarify how high uric acid worsens gum disease, pointing toward new ways to prevent or treat periodontitis.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It only measures associations, so it cannot prove cause and effect. Results may not lead to direct clinical changes.
