First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looks at a procedure called hybrid convergent ablation for people with long-standing persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib) that hasn't improved with medication. The procedure uses heat energy to destroy heart tissue causing the irregular rhythm, combining a small chest incision with a catheter through a vein. Researchers are tracking 53 patients to see if the procedure safely restores normal heart rhythm without needing more medication or additional procedures.
