New dressing could heal painful HS wounds
NCT ID NCT04354012
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This small study tested a combination wound dressing for people with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) who have non-healing wounds or draining abscesses. The dressing contains methylene blue, gentian violet, and a sheep stomach-derived material. Five adults were followed for 8 weeks to see how much their wounds healed and if their pain improved.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
methylene blue, gentian violet, and ovine forestomach wound dressing
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new way to help heal painful HS wounds and reduce discomfort.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early study with only 5 people. Results may not apply to everyone, and the dressing might not work for all HS wounds.
