Fighting stigma to stop cancer: new program boosts screening for vulnerable women

NCT ID NCT05736588

Summary

This study tested a new program designed to increase cervical cancer screening for women living with HIV in Kenya. The program trained community health workers to provide education and support in a way that reduces the shame and fear often associated with HPV, HIV, and cancer. Researchers compared this new approach to standard care to see if it led more women to get screened and treated.
