Blood test may spare some throat cancer patients from unnecessary radiation

Summary
This study is for people with HPV-related throat cancer who have had or will have surgery. Researchers will use a blood test that looks for cancer DNA (HPV ctDNA) to decide if radiation therapy is needed. In one group, patients with no detectable cancer DNA after surgery will skip radiation and be watched closely. In another group, patients who usually need 6 weeks of chemoradiation may get only 3 weeks if their DNA levels are low. The goal is to see if this approach is safe and effective.
