Oxygen bath for donor livers may slash cancer return after transplant

Summary
This study tests whether treating donor livers with a special oxygen-rich cold fluid (HOPE) before transplant can help prevent liver cancer from returning. About 220 adults with liver cancer waiting for a transplant will be randomly assigned to receive either a standard preserved liver or one treated with HOPE. Researchers will track cancer recurrence and survival for at least two years after transplant.
