Health workers on doorsteps: a new push to stop TB in kids
NCT ID NCT07479030
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether having health workers visit homes can improve tuberculosis (TB) prevention for children under 15 in southern Ethiopia. About 1,300 children will be split into two groups: one gets home-based care, the other standard clinic care. The goal is to see if more children start and finish TB preventive treatment when it's brought to their doorstep.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
home-based TB preventive treatment management (health worker visits)
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could significantly increase the number of children who receive and complete TB preventive treatment, reducing TB cases in high-burden areas.
What could go wrong
This is a pragmatic trial in a specific region, so results may not apply elsewhere. The study hasn't started yet, and real-world challenges like adherence or resource limits could affect outcomes.
