Mind over breath: simple mental games may extend breath holds during cancer treatment
NCT ID NCT06100068
First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested whether mental exercises and a slowed clock can help people hold their breath longer during radiation therapy for breast cancer. 36 healthy volunteers tried both standard breath-hold techniques and a new method where they did a simple mental task on a tablet. The goal was to see if these mental tricks could make breath holds easier and more comfortable.
