First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looked at 32 female volleyball players aged 15-18 to see if high-intensity interval training (HIIT) or high-intensity functional training (HIFT) improves performance more. Players did their assigned training twice a week for 12 weeks, in addition to regular practice. Researchers measured jumping, sprinting, agility, and volleyball skills before and after the program.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If the results show one training method is clearly better, it could help coaches design more effective practice routines for young athletes.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study with only 32 participants, so the findings may not apply to all athletes or settings. The differences between groups might be small or due to chance.
