Lifting heavy weights may be key to calming painful knees in hypermobile young adults

NCT ID NCT06277401

First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether high-load resistance training (lifting heavy weights) works better than usual care for reducing knee pain in young adults aged 18-45 who have loose joints (hypermobility) and persistent knee pain. About 90 participants will be randomly assigned to either a supervised heavy weight training program or standard care. The main goal is to see if pain during the most bothersome activity improves after 12 weeks.
