Which nasal cannula keeps oxygen levels safer during ERCP?
NCT ID NCT07611903
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study compares two oxygen delivery devices—high-flow nasal cannula and Microstream Advance nasal cannula—during ERCP, a procedure done under deep sedation. The goal is to see which one better prevents oxygen desaturation. 74 adults scheduled for ERCP will be randomly assigned to one of the two devices, and researchers will track oxygen levels and complications.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- High-flow nasal cannula and Microstream Advance nasal cannula
- What this could lead to
- If one device works better, it could help prevent dangerous drops in oxygen during ERCP procedures, making them safer.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 74 people, so results may not apply to everyone. Both devices are already in use, so no major breakthrough is expected.
