Pomegranate and neem mouthwashes take on chlorhexidine in schoolchildren study

NCT ID NCT07309679

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study compared two herbal mouthwashes (pomegranate peel extract and neem extract) with a standard chlorhexidine mouthwash in 156 school children aged 8-12. The goal was to see if the herbal options could reduce plaque, gum inflammation, and bacteria levels as effectively as chlorhexidine, but with fewer side effects. Results will help determine if natural alternatives are suitable for daily oral care in children.
