First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will test 35 people with known or suspected allergies to cannabis, tree nuts, or seeds to see if they are also allergic to hemp seeds. Participants will receive skin prick tests and blood tests to measure allergic reactions. The goal is to understand the potential allergic risk of hemp seeds as their consumption increases.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this study could clarify whether hemp seeds pose a significant allergy risk, especially for people with cannabis or tree nut allergies.
What could go wrong
This is a small observational study (35 people) that only measures allergic sensitization, not actual allergic reactions. Results may not apply to the general population.
