New registry to see if blocking artery can stop hemorrhoid bleeding

NCT ID NCT07635784

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study is creating a registry to track how well a procedure called hemorrhoid artery embolization works for people with chronic bleeding internal hemorrhoids. Researchers will follow 1,200 adults for up to 3 years after the procedure, collecting data on bleeding, symptoms, and quality of life. The goal is to see if this minimally invasive treatment provides lasting relief for those who haven't gotten better with medication.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Hemorrhoid artery embolization (a minimally invasive procedure that blocks blood flow to hemorrhoids)

What this could lead to

If successful, this registry could confirm that hemorrhoid artery embolization is a safe, effective long-term option for people with chronic bleeding hemorrhoids that don't improve with medication.

What could go wrong

This is an observational registry, not a controlled trial, so results may be less definitive. The procedure carries risks like pain, infection, or incomplete symptom relief, and long-term success is not guaranteed.
