First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested whether the drug heme arginate could help transplanted kidneys work immediately, especially when the kidney comes from an older donor. About 600 kidney transplant patients were planned, but the study was stopped early with only 47 participants. Patients received either the drug or a salt water solution at the time of transplant and 24 hours later, and kidney function was monitored for the first week.
