New hope for heart transplant patients: common drug may shield kidneys and heart

Summary
This study is testing if a medication called empagliflozin can help protect the kidneys and heart in people who have received a heart transplant. Researchers will enroll 200 veteran heart transplant recipients to take either the drug or a placebo for one year. The goal is to see if the drug can slow kidney decline, improve heart health, and increase energy levels in this high-risk group.
