Heart protein levels may reveal surgery risks in seniors
NCT ID NCT03605134
First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at whether measuring a heart protein called troponin in patients aged 75 and older after major surgery could help predict complications or death within 30 days. Researchers planned to include 100 patients but stopped early with 63 participants. The goal was to see if higher troponin levels were linked to longer hospital stays or higher death rates.
