Breakthrough heart stent trial: dissolving device aims to outperform metal
NCT ID NCT05540223
Summary
This study is testing a new type of heart stent called Freesolve, which is made of magnesium and dissolves over time. It is being compared to a standard, permanent metal drug-coated stent (Xience) in 1,859 patients with blocked heart arteries. The main goal is to see if the dissolving stent is as safe and effective as the metal one at preventing future heart problems related to the treated area.
