New program aims to cut heart attacks in arthritis patients

This study looked at why people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) often miss out on cholesterol checks and treatments that can prevent heart attacks and strokes. Researchers worked with 101 adults aged 40-75 who have RA but were not taking statins. They developed and tested a patient-centered program that includes education and decision support to help patients and doctors better manage cholesterol. The goal was to see if this approach could increase cholesterol screening and confidence in taking cholesterol-lowering medications.
