Dialysis Patients' artery thickness may reveal hidden heart risks
NCT ID NCT07558239
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study will measure the thickness of the carotid artery wall in 100 adults on hemodialysis. The goal is to see how traditional heart risk factors (like high blood pressure and diabetes) and dialysis-specific factors (like treatment length) relate to artery thickness. No new treatment is given; it is purely an observation to gather knowledge.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors better predict heart disease in dialysis patients by identifying which risk factors matter most.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not lead to direct changes in care, and results may not apply to all dialysis patients.
