New hope for failing fontan hearts: common drug gets specialized trial

NCT ID NCT06762964

Summary

This study is testing whether a medication called dapagliflozin, taken for six months, can help control heart pressures and improve symptoms in adults with a failing Fontan circulation—a complex heart condition they were born with. Researchers will measure changes in heart pressure during rest and light exercise using a specialized catheter. The goal is to see if this drug, already used for other heart conditions, can help manage this specific and challenging form of heart failure.
