Could a cool head save your brain after a stroke?
NCT ID NCT07526649
First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study tests whether cooling the head, starting as early as possible and continuing until one hour after blood flow is restored, can reduce the amount of brain tissue damaged by a stroke. About 182 adults with a severe type of stroke will be randomly assigned to receive either standard treatment alone or standard treatment plus head cooling. The main goal is to see if cooling leads to smaller areas of brain injury on scans taken 24 hours later.
