First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new oral medication, HDM1002, in 360 adults with type 2 diabetes whose blood sugar is not well controlled by diet and exercise alone. Participants will take either a low or high dose of HDM1002 or a placebo daily for 40 weeks. The main goal is to see if the drug lowers blood sugar levels (HbA1c) more than placebo.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
HDM1002 tablets
What this could lead to
If successful, HDM1002 could offer a new oral medication option to help control blood sugar and weight in people with type 2 diabetes.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively early Phase 3 trial, so the drug may not prove effective or safe compared to placebo. Side effects are possible, and results may not apply to all diabetes patients.
