Can a traditional chinese herb help COPD patients bounce back faster?
NCT ID NCT07456813
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether Guben Kechuan Granules, a traditional Chinese medicine, can improve lung function and quality of life in people with COPD who are recovering from a sudden worsening of symptoms. 126 patients will receive either the granules or a placebo on top of standard care, and be followed for 12 weeks. The goal is to see if the granules help reduce inflammation and speed up recovery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Guben Kechuan Granules (a traditional Chinese medicine herbal formula)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a new add-on treatment to help COPD patients recover faster after a flare-up and reduce the risk of repeat attacks.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with no phase designation, so results are uncertain. The herbal granules are tested alongside standard care, and any benefit may be modest or not confirmed in larger studies.
