Could a skin prick test unlock the mystery of severe peach allergies?
NCT ID NCT06183398
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study will test 2,000 allergy patients at Montpellier University Hospital for sensitivity to six foods containing gibberellin-related proteins (GRPs): peach, apple, sesame, carrot, lemon, and orange. Using skin prick tests with raw foods, researchers aim to find out how common these allergies are and whether they are linked to cypress pollen exposure. The goal is to better understand severe allergic reactions and improve prevention strategies.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
skin prick test with raw foods (peach, apple, sesame, carrot, lemon, orange)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors better understand and predict severe food allergies linked to gibberellin proteins, leading to improved prevention and management.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It only measures allergy rates and does not test any new therapy, so it won't directly change patient care.
