Can growth hormone or DHEA help women with low egg reserve get pregnant?

NCT ID NCT07323329

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether giving growth hormone or DHEA (a natural hormone) can improve egg production and pregnancy rates in women with poor ovarian reserve who are undergoing IVF. 165 women will receive one of these treatments or a placebo (folic acid only) for 1-3 months before their IVF cycle. The goal is to see which approach leads to more mature eggs and higher pregnancy rates.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Somatropin (growth hormone) and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a way to improve egg quantity and quality in women with poor ovarian reserve, potentially increasing their chances of pregnancy through IVF.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-stage trial with only 165 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Hormone treatments can have side effects, and success is not guaranteed.
