Could group doctor visits help control chronic disease in nepal?
NCT ID NCT07439380
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether group care—where patients meet together with health workers for education and check-ups—can improve control of high blood pressure and diabetes in Nepal. Over 1,100 adults from 37 health facilities will be assigned to standard care, low-intensity group care, or high-intensity group care. The goal is to see if group care leads to better blood pressure and blood sugar levels after 6 and 12 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- group care model (behavioral intervention)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that group care is an effective and affordable way to manage chronic diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes in low-resource communities.
- What could go wrong
- This is an implementation trial, not a test of a new drug. The results may not apply to other settings, and the improvements in health outcomes might be modest.
