Nature walk beats treadmill for mental recovery, study finds
NCT ID NCT07379164
First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a 30-minute walk outside in a green area helps people recover from mental tiredness and stress better than walking on a treadmill indoors. Researchers split 80 healthy young adults into two groups: one walked outdoors in nature, the other walked on a treadmill in a windowless room. They measured mood, attention, stress hormones, and how connected people felt to nature to see which environment was more restorative.
