First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a class of diabetes drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists can reduce fat stored in and around the heart, and improve heart function, in 44 obese adults with type 2 diabetes. Participants received the drug and were monitored using heart MRI scans. The goal was to see if these medications, which already lower blood sugar and promote weight loss, also have direct benefits for heart health.
