First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a class of diabetes drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists can improve heart function and reduce fat around the heart in obese people with type 2 diabetes. The researchers measured heart fat and function using MRI scans in 44 participants. The goal was to see if these drugs, which lower blood sugar and promote weight loss, also have direct benefits for the heart.
