New MRI technique could help surgeons predict brain tumor toughness

NCT ID NCT05990244

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study uses a special MRI technique called magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) to measure how stiff and sticky brain tumors (gliomas) are. Researchers will compare these measurements with what surgeons see during operations and with the tumor's genetic makeup. The goal is to see if MRE can help predict tumor behavior and guide treatment decisions.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors better predict tumor behavior and tailor surgeries for glioma patients.

What could go wrong

This is an early observational study with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. MRE is not yet standard for glioma assessment.
