AI-Powered radiation adjusts in real time to fight brain tumors

NCT ID NCT06492486

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new way to deliver radiation therapy for people with diffuse glioma, a type of brain tumor. Instead of giving the same dose throughout treatment, doctors will use MRI and PET scans taken during treatment to adjust the radiation dose to target resistant areas and protect healthy tissue. An artificial intelligence system helps plan these adjustments. The trial includes 60 adults aged 18-70 with certain types of glioma. The goal is to see if this adaptive approach improves tumor control and reduces side effects like radionecrosis.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

adaptive radiotherapy

What this could lead to

If successful, this could make radiation therapy for brain tumors more precise, potentially improving tumor control and reducing side effects.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 60 participants. The AI workflow is still being developed, and it's unknown if adaptive dosing will meaningfully improve outcomes or be practical in routine care.
