New scan may spot hidden cancer in men with 'Prostate cancer Genes'

NCT ID NCT05097274

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 39 times

Summary

This study compares a special PET-CT scan (FCH-PET-CT) to standard imaging (bone scan and MRI/CT) to see which better detects cancer spread in men with prostate cancer who have inherited DNA repair gene mutations (like BRCA). About 50 men with these mutations will be scanned at diagnosis or if their cancer returns. The goal is to improve early detection of metastases, which could guide better treatment decisions.
