NCT ID NCT07174167

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested whether injecting numbing medicine around the knee nerves can reduce pain and improve daily function in people with chronic knee osteoarthritis. 81 adults aged 45–75 received either a local anesthetic alone, a local anesthetic plus steroid, or a sham saline injection. Researchers measured pain levels and walking ability over follow-up visits to see which approach worked best.

What this could lead to

If effective, this nerve block could offer a non-surgical option to ease knee pain and improve mobility for people with osteoarthritis.
