Generic fertility drug could cut IVF costs without sacrificing success
NCT ID NCT06023602
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study compares a generic version of the drug cetrorelix acetate to the original brand in women undergoing IVF. The goal is to see if the generic works just as well at preventing early ovulation and improving live birth rates. Over 1,300 women will participate, and the results could make fertility treatment more affordable.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
cetrorelix acetate (generic and reference)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a more affordable option for ovarian stimulation during IVF, potentially increasing access to fertility treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a non-inferiority trial, so the generic may be slightly less effective. Results may not apply to all infertility cases, and individual responses to IVF vary widely.
