New scan could tell doctors if chemo worked without surgery

NCT ID NCT07593976

First seen May 21, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026

Summary

This study tests a special PET/CT scan that uses a radioactive tracer to see if HER2-positive breast cancer has been completely eliminated by chemotherapy before surgery. About 42 women with early-stage breast cancer will receive the scan after their chemo. The goal is to see if the scan can accurately predict which patients have no cancer left, potentially helping doctors tailor treatments more precisely.
