Turning hospital halls into a game: can fun goals get patients walking?

NCT ID NCT04300764

Summary

This study aimed to see if adding game-like challenges to a patient's daily step goals could help them be more active while in the hospital. It planned to use wearable devices and text messages with older adults who had heart or metabolic conditions. The goal was to see if more walking during a hospital stay could lead to better recovery and fewer return trips to the hospital after going home.
