Could a common pain drug boost spinal cord healing?

NCT ID NCT05302999

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study is checking if it's possible to give gabapentin, a nerve pain medication, within the first few days after a spinal cord injury. The goal is to see if a larger study on nerve recovery can be done. About 42 adults with any level or severity of spinal cord injury will take either gabapentin or a placebo. The main focus is on whether people can be recruited and stick with the treatment, not yet on whether the drug works.
