First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early-phase trial tests whether adding the experimental drug futibatinib to standard chemotherapy (paclitaxel) and an antibody (ramucirumab) is safe for people with advanced stomach, gastroesophageal junction, or esophageal cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. The study will enroll 18 participants to find the best dose and watch for side effects. It is not yet recruiting.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

futibatinib (a targeted drug) combined with paclitaxel (chemotherapy) and ramucirumab (antibody therapy)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a new treatment option for advanced stomach or esophageal cancer that is not curable with surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a very early phase I trial with only 18 people, focused on safety and dosing. The combination may not work better than existing treatments, and side effects could be significant.
