Earlobe crease may reveal hidden heart danger in smokers
NCT ID NCT07427745
First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study looked at 404 adults aged 40-59 to see if a diagonal crease on the earlobe (Frank's sign) is linked to smoking and heart disease risk. Researchers compared smokers, former smokers, and non-smokers to find out if the crease appears more often in people who smoke. The goal is to help doctors quickly spot people who may have hidden heart risks just by looking at their ear.
