Quick Pre-Surgery tests may spot frail seniors at risk

NCT ID NCT06988176

First seen Jan 30, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at whether easy-to-do tests for muscle strength, breathing, and frailty can help predict complications after major abdominal surgery in people aged 65 and older. About 100 participants will complete these tests during a routine pre-surgery visit, and researchers will check their medical records 30 and 90 days after surgery. The goal is to see if these simple measures can be used in regular clinic visits to identify those who may need extra care.
