Frailty and muscle loss may predict outcomes in lung scarring patients
NCT ID NCT07004595
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at 100 adults aged 65 and older with fibrosing interstitial lung disease, a condition that scars the lungs and shortens life. Researchers will assess frailty and muscle loss (sarcopenia) using questionnaires and tests to see if these factors predict hospital stays, disease worsening, or death. The goal is to help doctors tailor care for those most at risk.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors identify which patients need extra support or different treatments based on frailty and muscle loss.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It does not test a new treatment.
