New breathing tests could help doctors give the right amount of fluids after heart surgery

NCT ID NCT05957003

Summary

This study tested two simple breathing-based methods to help doctors decide if a patient needs more IV fluids right after heart surgery. The goal is to give the right amount of fluid—not too much or too little—to help patients recover better and avoid complications. Researchers compared these new breathing tests to a standard method in 90 patients who were on a breathing machine after their operation.
